Ellis van den Boogaard

Ellis van den Boogaard is an independent curator, educator, and freelance editor. She received her B.A. in the history of art, architecture, and archeology at the University of Groningen in the Netherlands, her native country. Specializing in the scientific examination of 15th-century panel paintings – conducting research using infrared reflectology, X-rays, UV, and microscopes – she earned her M.A. at the University of Leuven (Belgium) while working at the university’s research center for illuminated manuscripts. She also holds certificates in didactics, pedagogy, and teaching art history from the university’s department of education and ancient, medieval, and modern philosophy from the department of philosophy. Ellis gained curatorial and consulting experience in Europe and the U.S. and before moving to California she owned an art consulting company in Chicago. Ellis has been ghostwriting and editing academic papers since 2002 and is working towards a certificate in teaching English as a second language. She currently teaches at the University of California San Diego Extension and at Title 1 schools all over San Diego County.
